In the world of Cyberpunk 2077, Night City is a sprawling metropolis with plenty to explore. It has its highs and lows, dark alleys, and extravagant places. But what it doesn't have is a subway system - or so it seemed until rumors began flying around that CD Projekt Red was planning on introducing one in an upcoming DLC. However, Marcin Momot, Global Community Director at CD Projekt Red, has denied these rumors and put the dreams of many fans of the game to rest.
The concept of a subway system was something that many players had wanted in their experience of traversing through Night City's streets and buildings, as it would have added another level of realism to the game's already vast open-world environment. Unfortunately for them, though, this won't be happening any time soon as Marcin Momot confirmed that there are no plans for such a feature being made by CD Projekt Red currently. They are instead focusing on enriching existing content within the base game with free updates, which include additional weapons, clothes, cars as well as apartments that V can purchase and live in during their playthroughs.
This year will also bring forth Phantom Liberty premium DLC. Although exact details about its contents haven't been revealed yet either, it can safely be assumed that subway systems won't be part of this either, given how much work would need to go into creating them properly from scratch within an already established map like Night City’s one in Cyberpunk 2077 is.
Rumors about the subway system first surfaced on Reddit when one developer supposedly confirmed that it would come with a future patch- though no confirmation from CDPR came ever since then until Marcin Momot shot down those hopes recently on Twitter, saying there are no such plans from their side yet. Luckily enough, though, there is already a mod created by members within the community that adds 19 explorable stations to Night City's map as well as functioning metro lines throughout them all, so players can still enjoy riding around town even if not officially supported yet by CD Projekt Red developers themselves!
The wish list for fans didn’t stop at just subways, though; they hoped to make use of other features such as boats or planes too, but all these requests fell on deaf ears due to a lack of resources available at CDPR right now who are more focused on fixing bugs than anything else after two years worth patches since release date back when massive amounts issues were present upon launch day across all platforms including PC where majority users experienced performance drops even with high-end rigs making use out hardware capable running games effectively without any hiccups whatsoever.
Conclusion
So while there might not be any possibility yet again for Cyberpunk 2077 fans getting their wishes granted anytime soon regarding the introduction of new transportation methods via underground railway systems or other means of air/watercraft anytime soon, hopefully, future expansions Phantom Liberty will offer some interesting surprises keep us engaged coming back play more hours before next major update arrives. Until then, we’ll just have our eyes peeled, looking out for news regarding further developments related to this project – fingers crossed!
