With the closure of the Nintendo 3DS’s eShop on March 27, users of The Pokemon Company’s companion app, Pokemon Bank, are now reporting that the app is not working correctly. This conclusion was reached despite The Pokemon Company's assurances that their app would still function after the closure. It appears that this issue may stem from another associated app, Pokemon Transporter, which allowed for the transfer of Gen 5 (Black, White, Black 2, and White 2) to Gen 6 (X & Y).
Without access to the 3DS’s eShop, however, it seems impossible to now download Transporter, and as a result, any Gen 5 pokemon are trapped in their respective games. As such, players who have yet to move these pokemon into later generations may be unable to do so unless a workaround can be found.
Unfortunately for those hoping for an easy fix or workaround, it does not appear one will be forthcoming anytime soon, with no indication from either Nintendo or The Pokemon Company as to what steps could be taken regarding this issue. Likewise, it remains unclear at present if anyone who has already downloaded and installed Transporter before the shutdown will still have full functionality when using both apps together or if they, too, will experience difficulties similar to those reported by other users in recent days.
Although some solace can be taken in knowing that none of one's data is lost due to this incident, there is still frustration amongst fans over being unable to use their beloved monsters in different generations of games meaning many must wait until further notice before taking advantage of this feature again.
Conclusion
While we all await news on how exactly how best to tackle this issue, let us hope that Nintendo and The Pokémon Company can come up with a solution sooner rather than later so players everywhere can get back to playing with their favorite pocket monsters once more!
