WhatsApp Refuses to Adhere to UK's Online Safety Bill

WhatsApp chief Will Cathcart said that the app would not comply with the proposed bill and that the company is committed to protecting user privacy and security through its end-to-end encryption. Without encryption, Cathcart believes that any moderation process would be ineffective and create a false sense of security.

The UK government has yet to respond to Cathcart's statement, and it remains to be seen if they will push forward with the proposed bill despite WhatsApp's refusal to comply.
